How to draw the earth map easily

Sounds trivial, but drawing the map of the world is an uneasy task, requires a lot of remembrance and weird geometry. As far as I know, there are no instructions, no system how to draw the earth easily - the surface, the continents, or the geometry of the earth. So how to draw the earth very, but really very simply? That's where I'm coming up with a solution : a set of instructions those are simple to follow and easy to remember. Just start with a circle almost in the middle.
